Insulating a converted container properly

Steel conducts cold as well as heat: insulation must be planned from the outset, together with ventilation and heating.

A steel wall does not insulate: it lets in cold in winter and heat in summer, and encourages condensation. Any fit-out meant to be occupied therefore starts with continuous insulation of the walls, ceiling and floor.

In our workshop, we fit insulation suited to the climate where the unit will stand, carefully treating thermal bridges around openings and structural parts. A vapour barrier protects the insulation from indoor moisture.

Insulation is not enough without ventilation: a sealed, poorly ventilated space builds up moisture. We size mechanical ventilation or air inlets to the use, then the heating or reversible air conditioning.

The result is a space usable all year round, from site office to home. That is also what separates a lasting converted container from a simple shelter.
